Ethics Commission advocates to push Senate for action
June 7, 2010
Operation Clean Government and other advocates of efforts to restore state Ethics Commission oversight of legislative votes have slated a news conference (State House rotunda) for 3 pm tomorrow to push the state Senate to act on a related bill.
The House, following on the lead of Speaker Gordon Fox, overwhelmingly passed a bill last week that would give voters the chance in November to restore Ethics Commission oversight of the General Assembly.
But there are lingering questions about whether the state Senate may effectively kill the legislation by failing to act on it before adjourning for the summer.
