Chafee in talks with Colin Kane to lead the EDC
May 17, 2012
Developer Colin Kane, head of the I-195 Redevelopment Commission, has been asked by Governor Lincoln Chafee to succeed Keith Stokes as head of the embattled state Economic Development Corporation.
Kane says he’d like to to take the job, but hasn’t yet made a commitment to do so. He says he doesn’t want to lead the quasi-public agency indefinitely and is still talking compensation with the administration.
“I hope something happens” to help the state move forward economically, Kane says.
UPDATE: For what it’s worth, Kane’s company, the Peregrine Group, manages the ALCO property where the EDC has its headquarters.

How much has Peregrine received in tax credits, tax increment financing and the like for ALCO and other projects? Is this the right person to do this job, as Peregrine clearly has been the recipient of preferential tax treatment by the RI government?
