Chafee: 15 percent cuts are part of the solution

Governor-elect Lincoln Chafee, during an interview earlier today, said some state departments will need to undergo 15 percent cuts to close the almost-$300 million budget deficit projected for fiscal 2012.

Yes, you have to. And it’s in having fewer people do more, and that’s what I learned as mayor, having a motivated workforce, providing better services with fewer people, and that all comes from teamwork and good leadership from the top.
