Speaker Fox calls Medina’s arrest “disheartening”
In a brief statement, House Speaker Gordon Fox has this to say about yesterday’s arrest by state police of Representative Leo Medina, the freshman Democrat from Providence:
I find this whole situation disheartening. However, the criminal allegations against Rep. Medina will be dealt with in the courthouse, not the State House. I will not allow his situation to distract the House of Representatives from our focus on the upcoming special legislative session to deal with the serious pension problems confronting our state.
Medina is the second rep to be arrested this year. Former House minority leader Robert Watson was arrested in Connecticut on charges of operating under the influence earlier this year.
