Legislative leaders splitting the cost for today’s pension session
House Speaker Gordon Fox and Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed — or their campaign contributors, to be more precise — are footing the tab for today’s pension overview (5-8 pm) at the Renaissance Providence Hotel.
House spokesman Larry Berman says the cost for the session will be split evenly between the campaign accounts of the two legislative leaders. He was unsure of the cost.
Buying some chicken dinners (see below) shouldn’t be a problem since Fox showed a balance of almost $175,000 in his most recent campaign finance report, while Paiva Weed isn’t faring too poorly, either.
Asked why the forum is being held at a hotel a short distance from the Statehouse, rather than at the Statehouse itself, Berman suggested the hotel will be more comfortable for a post-discussion chicken dinner.
