Obama Path to Victory in 2012?
The changing demographics of the U.S. electorate could help President Obama’s reelection chances. Despite the tough economic times, the NY Times in a story that quotes political consultant Tad Devine, a Providence native who has worked in many national campaigns, the increasing number of blacks and Hispanics in the voter pool across the nation could help the president. This makes sense. Don’t forget that in 1984 Ronald Reagan won a 49-state sweep over Democrat Walter Mondale by capturing 55 percent of the votes of white Americans. John McCain got that same percentage of the white vote in 2008 and was blown away by Obama. It ain’t your grandfather’s electorate.
