Top Whitehouse aide to manage Warren Senate campaign
Mindy Myers, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s chief of staff and 2006 campaign manager, has taken a position as campaign manager for Massachusetts Democratic Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren’s campaign to unseat Republican incumbent Scott Brown.
Myers is a talented political operative who led Connecticut Democrat Richard Blumenthal’s 2010 U.S. Senate victory over Republican Linda McMahon.
While Myers will be in Massachusetts, she will take time to consult with the Whitehouse re-election campaign, sources say. The Massachusetts race is a huge Democratic target in a cycle when Democrats must defend more Senate seats than the GOP.
That Whitehouse is allowing his top political operative to work for Warren shows both the importance of the that Bay State contest and that the Rhode Island Democrat is confident that the rest of his campaign team can lead him to victory over his lone Republican opponents so far, Barry Hinckley of Newport.
