Raimondo, Whitehouse garner national media mention

December 6, 2011

Rhode Island’s pension overhaul is harvesting national media attention, particularly for State General Treasurer Gina Raimondo. The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times Sunday edition have already weighed in on the pension issue in Little Rhody. Now comes Time Magazine   with this report, via Ted Nesi at WPRI.com.

The NY Times Sunday edition (Dec.3) also had a story by Robert Pear, essentially a going away piece on Dr. Donald Berwick, who was in charge of the federal Medicaid and Medicare programs for the past 17 months. In his farewell interview, Berwick cites RI U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Ohio U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, Democrats both, as two members of Congress who have “deep knowledge’’ of national health care policies.

“Gina Raimondo, a rookie politician who never got the memo about dodging tough issues”

…like dealing with so-called “public safety employee” pension reform, which the state totally ducked out on? Please…what a joke…

I wonder how many of these outside publications will do stories when all of the recent pension “reform” gets undone by the courts?
