Joseph P. Kennedy III likely to run for Congress
It is looking more and more like a run for Congress in Massachusetts by Joseph P. Kennedy III.
Kennedy, son of former U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II, is taking a serious look at running for the seat vacated by Rep. Barney Frank. Frank, 71, decided to retire rather than run again in a new district that has become more Republican.
Kennedy is the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy.
Sources close to Kennedy tell R.I. Public Radio that the Kennedy family has been quietly lining up fund-raisers and that Kennedy will have something more to say about his plans within a week or so.
Kennedy, 31, is a Middlesex County prosecutor and graduate of Harvard Law School. Massachusetts Democrats are impressed with Kennedy’s smarts and work ethic. In a multi-candidate primary race, Kennedy would have obvious fund-raising and name recognition advantages.
