Brown fires hoop coach Agel

March 5, 2012

Jesse Agel, Brown University’s basketball coach, has been dismissed. Agel has been Brown’s coach for 4 years. During his tenure, Brown won 39 games and lost 79.

Agel’s firing comes one day after the University of Rhode Island canned Jim Baron, who led the Ram hoop team for 11 years.

A native of Burlington, Vermont, Agel was a long-time assistant coach under Tom Brennan at UVM before coming to College Hill.

Brown has named T.J. Sorrentine, an Agel assistant, as interim coach. Sorrentine, A Pawtucket native and one-time star at St. Raphel Academy, was a star guard for Brennan at UVM.
