D-Day for Chafee’s plan to aid cities and towns

March 14, 2012

Governor Lincoln Chafee will unveil his legislative tool kit for helping the state’s struggling cities and towns during a news conference at Pawtucket City Hall Thursday at 2:30 pm.

As previously reported here, the governor’s package will include a bill allowing communities to freeze cost of living adjustments in their local pensions.

Chafee elaborated a bit this afternoon on his plan:

It’s not only resources immediately, but long-term reforms that will help these distressed communities stabilize.  I like to say, ‘No resources without reform.’

Watch for more details tomorrow.
