Who’s the next mayor of Providence, Part II

September 24, 2012

A few updates since we last month floated 16 names to consider for the 2014 Providence mayoral race (assuming Angel Taveras runs for another office).

Buddy Cianci made our original list, and Scott has the chatter touting a third Cianci comeback.

Meanwhile, we overlooked Providence councilman John Igliozzi in our initial roundup. Igliozzi now tells Dan McGowan that a run for an unspecified different office might be in his future.

From our initial list, the other top potential candidates include City Council President Michael Solomon, and perhaps former mayor Joseph R. Paolino Jr. and state Representative Christopher Blazejewski.

If a person gas a felony they can not work for the City according to the ordinance. The mayor is paid as a city employee, gets the same sick time, vacation allowance as all the other employees. It takes one person to file a complaint to prohibit a felon from holding office within a certain widow after filing to run according to the board of elections in the 1990 dispute. I was there in the court room. Learning from our mistakes Cianci will never be mayor again.
