Cicilline wins solid victory

September 15, 2010

David Cicilline won a solid but not overwhelming victory in a four-way contest for the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in the First District. Republicans are going to point to the fact that the mayor received less than 40 percent of the Democratic vote in a four-way contest. That is a fine way to spin the vote but without the national Republican Party chipping in some serious money for John Loughlin, the Republican candidate for U.S. House, Cicilline will be the favorite to keep the seat held by Patrick Kennedy since 1995 in Democratic hands.
