Taveras heads into 2012 with a new constituent — his baby girl, Farah Rose

Congratulations to Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and his partner, Farah Escamilla. Their new baby girl arrived early this morning, just a few hours after her due date.

Taveras shared the news on his Facebook page:

Today, we welcomed a wonderful blessing into our lives! Farah Rose Escamilla-Taveras was born at 5:36 am, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces! Mom and baby are doing great! Thank you to all the nurses, doctors , and our fantastic midwife Lynette, who have been absolutely great.

Taveras has steadily dodged reporters’ questions about whether he plans to marry girlfriend Escamilla, a legal assistant in Providence.

Regardless, as he heads into 2012, the mayor has gained a new constituent — one who will cut into his sleep while offering a close reminder of the need to work for brighter days in Providence.
